2020 will be Georgina's year of action.  Big news items from 2019 will continue.  Such as:

Airbnb's have been a hot topic from all sides.  The Town of Georgina has approved STRA's through a new licensing program.  At this point, the Town will only grant 150 licenses and has imposed a 100-metre buffer between each registered STRA.  There will be a Renter's Code of Conduct and demerit point system against STRAs for bylaw infractions....and what about the illegal ones????

Hopes that the waterfront parks' first of 3 phases master plan be out by end of 2020...although we hope that includes solutions for the overcrowding and parking issues at our most popular beaches and encompasses other areas of town-owned wanterfront assets.

MURC, although still having design elements pending, has been approved with an expection of shovels in the ground later this year.  

Hey, chicken lovers...Georgina residents can apply for a backyard hen license.  This pilot project will span over the next 2 years where 3 hen permits will be granted per ward!  The kicker, 100-metre buffer between permits given and residents can keep a maximum of 4 hens per property.  

Last but certainly not least...the Town of Georgina has finally started to amend the general zoning bylaws in include cannabis production facilities to include provisions for growing cannabis as a crop in rural areas as a designated or licensed producer.  Spring 2020 we can expect to hear of public meetings on new production site plan control provisions in time for planting season.
